About Us

Our Mission

We envision a world in which we can live without violence. Meanwhile, we create mutually supportive spaces to cultivate healing holistically, defying national boundaries.

Our Vision

Our project has the long-term vision of creating support networks crossing borders, with forms of community organization from Oaxaca, based on mutual support and transnational solidarity.

Meet the Team

We are women survivors of patriarchal violence who are building alternative spaces to heal the traumas of abuse and to provide support to other women survivors. We focus on providing spaces for Spanish speakers and particularly for women who recognize themselves as originating from native peoples of Latin America.

Denisse Contreras

Founder

I am a woman of indigenous Benniza (Zapotec) descent. My grandmother, Modesta Quero, instilled her values of solidarity and community commitment in me.

For 16 years, I have been involved in social & general justice issues. Professionally as a psychologist, I have focused on women's rights, mainly the right to a life free of violence, and as an anthropologist, I have deepened my work towards indigenous women. Now living in the United States, I have a new perspective on ways to build and realize dreams like carrying out this project, which represents for me the opportunity to be an example for my nephews and nieces. I hope they are encouraged to make their dreams come true.

Anabel Hernandez

Founder

I am proudly Mexican from Tamaulipas. I am a single mother of 4 children, who are my driving force every day. I am a brave woman, I learn quickly, I am a community leader, and an owner-worker of a Tortillería cooperative project Seed Co-op.

Being a part of Red Sin Frontreras for Survivors of Violence fills me with pride, because I will be happy if my support can help a woman in some way.

We will have workshops that will be: informative, learning, art. We are making great progress in this beautiful project inspired by our dear Denisse Contreras (she is my inspiration). Thank you to our community for the support!

Product Manager

I majored in Ethnicity, Race and Migration at Yale. I gained a passion for organizing with others against injustice by watching the work of my parents and learning from the rich political history of my home, the Bay Area.

In New Haven, I spent years working with organizers at the Semilla Collective, a community that fights for immigrant justice. I plan to dedicate myself to organizing for many years to come.
